THE ARTIST’S JOURNAL/ VISUAL DIARY
This will be assessed at the three review dates throughout the
semester.(refer - assignment requirements) Assessment weighting
20%
The components that are to be included in your journal are as
follows:
- Artists’ profiles researched throughout the semester.
- A collection of articles from published journals related to
your general ceramics knowledge.
- Evidence of the development of your idea that you use in the
production of your work.
- Evidence of the research into techniques used by you.
- Documentation of production including forming and decorative
techniques of your work, glazes tests and research, kiln use
and firing logs.
- Your own critical analysis of your work. Use of the points
referred to above should form the basis of your comments.
Regular visits to art galleries, public art venues, including
Federation Square in Melbourne should be documented in your journal.
Artists’ floor talks, public lectures, journal articles and
published critical reviews of exhibitions provide great opportunities
to glean more knowledge about the practice of art and can add to
your studentship. Inclusion of notes from these events should be
included in your journal entries.
Demonstrating the extent and in-depth development of your ideas,
your forming and finishing will enhance your knowledge The methods
of inquiry, procedures and conditions that should precede the production
of your work and be reviewed at the conclusion.
