All Visual Arts and Design Student can access the facilities they need for their studies after-hours. Most access doors are fitted with swipe card readers and keypads (keypads are on external doors only) which can be activated with a student ID card and pin number issued with the card.

Applying for After - Hours Access

For all areas except the upstairs darkrooms and the Graphic Design Studios students must apply to have the area added to their student card.

  • Students must apply for access to Sylvia Reeves in room 2.45A Graphic Design Building (inside the computer lab).
  • Sylvia is on campus in 2006, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and can be contacted on 5444 7575 or s.reeves@latrobe.edu.au
  • Students will be issued with two forms, An access requisition and and access agreement. The access requisition must be signed by Sylvia Reeves and the access agreement must be completed and signed by the student before and adult witness who must also sign the form.
  • The student then must take both forms and their student card to the Building and Grounds Dept. where their student card will be activated for access.
Two Student Rule

In all areas of Visual Arts other than the Visual Arts Computer Lab the two student rule applies. This means that students must not work in these area alone after-hours, at least two students must be present for the area to be used after-hours. (For example there must be two students working in the painting studio for them continue working after-hours. It is not sufficient for there to be one student in painting and one in ceramics.) If security staff find a student working alone, the student will be asked to vacate the building. Repeated breaking of this rule will result in loss of after-hours access.
